What would you do if I sang out a song?

I never expected to have to drag THIS Huffington Post piece out of mothballs. Titled, "The Grateful Voice of the Autism Mom," it's about the two years Mark, the girls and I survived and even flourished under very trying times. Seems the trying times are back. And a new friend, a good friend, a true friend, is helping me to pry open my heart yet again. Funny, practice does not make perfect. Not for me. I'd better get it right this time. I sure don't want to have to do it again.

Thank you.

Kim I read your Huffington piece.

I'm with ya, hubby was out of work for 1 full year (yeah whats with the soap? I was still driving a Pacifica???) and has recently went to work in Minnisota - thank god for webcams.

After being off for a full year we couldn't pass it up and while its contract work for a year (nuke plant) we are not uprooting the kids and moving all over the place.

After 20 years of marriage who'da thunk we'd need to try a long distance relationship ha-ha or single parenting for that matter.

Hold on tight, things will work out.

Dearest Kim,

Hang in there OK? We won't let you deal with this difficult situation all on your own.

XOXOXO

Petra, as I slowly go batty my other personalities will keep me company! LOL! Thanks. We're hanging on and yesterday, my Gianna said to me, "Thank you, Mama." She's never called me Mama -and rarely uses my name. None of my kids call out to me as "Mom" so it was especially sweet to hear. Those moments help calm the fears. They do.

Hang in there... I hope your husband will find a new job soon. Maybe some offer would come through your network of autism families? Best wishes,

Kim - still laughing. It's always worked in the past. It will get us through this time too.

It was just last year when my bf was out of work for five months and then I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to be out for three weeks after the surgury. I too had a hard time accepting help. Work pulled together two fundraisers and I applied for heating assistance and went to the food bank, twice. If that doesn't humble you, nothing will.

I'm still paying off the medical bills but he's working and I'm working (except for today due to the stupid snow) and although life isn't great, it's good and there is food in the pantry.

Life throws curves. It's just the way it is. Be strong, this will pass.

Yes, Lynn. You're an inspiration - don't laugh. I have my health. And I know I'm blessed for that. Sing it with me, "We shall overcoooooome!"
