Do you know the Mary Chapin Carpenter song "Sometimes you're the windshield. Sometimes you're the bug"? This week on Monday I was the bug. Actually, my husband was the bug. (Think job security. Now think "none." Got it?)

But since Mark and I fly arm in arm, wing to wing (or is that leg to leg to leg to leg to leg to leg?) I hit too. My thorax aches. My antennae are drooping. But a funny thing happens to me when I hit the windshield at 95 mph: my stinger grows to ten feet long.

And today I got "bugly" on Huffington Post.

Yes, his company let go a large group. But I can't discuss it. I'm sure you understand. Thanks.

Hang in there, girl, hang in there. Working on getting at least a slightly more cushiony windshield in place for ya, OK?

Give a hug to your beautiful girls for me.

You already know what I think you should do. And aggressively, too.

Great HuffPo piece, once again. Your wit just gets sharper and sharper. I'm glad we're on the same side.

Glad to see your mission to get parents to have the courage to tell the doctors to shove it any where other than in their child is going well. In the UK the only people allowed to have the flu vaccine are at risk groups like the elderly, diabetics etc. At risk does not mean the average kid in the street.

Sending you happy vibes - hang in there Hun (or you could just run away across the pond....)

Great article, Kim!
You're one tiny dynamo, with the wit and brains to match. Sorry to hear about your hubby's job woes. I hope it all gets sorted out soon so you can both get off that windshield :)

Hey Kim . . .

Support, prayers . . . my thoughts are with you. I've been having a "big's life" since November . . . I look forward to being the windshield again and hope the same for you.

You're so brave. I don't know how I would face a job loss, but I guess you've faced worse and keep going -- like the energizer bunny but inspiring.
