Spring Break(ing point.)

Spring break, 2007, day 4. STILL NO SUN!!!! No, I'm not in Mexico. Nor Florida. I'm in stinking Connecticut, land of the gloomiest spring ever to torment the United States of America.

I lived in CLEVELAND FREAKING OHIO for ten years and never saw a spring this nasty. Cleveland is God's homage to the color gray. Lake Erie ensures that old Sol makes nothing more than a guest appearance every so often to keep NE Ohioans from going insane.

Now Connecticut, in my beloved New England, the land I pined for during 14 long years of separation has turned on me. We haven't seen ONE crocus. Not a hint of a daffodil. Nothing. Rain. Cold. Wind. That's it.

Spring break. Indeed.

Yeck! I can't imagine, but I should try. We are considering making a move from TX to DE this summer. Here, we have about 6 weeks of winter, and LONG, hot summers (quite humid, in this particular neck of the woods). The idea of living in NE (does DE count as NE?) is exciting for lots of reasons but daunting when it comes to weather-COLD, wintry weather! Yikes!

I'll have to forward a pic to you of our Easter this year.

New York unfortunately is going through the same horrible spring - at least the birds have begun occupying my birdhouses - but flowers - not a one!

hmmm, I guess I'd need your email to send the pics. I'll just post them on my blog. Enjoy!

Oh you Texans... Nope, Delaware is not in New England. It's almost (dare I say it) SOUTH! LOL! Delaware is between PA/Jersey and Maryland. A lovely little state. Better spring than here usually. And Rhode Island isn't an island, but Long Island is. NE can mean NorthEast though and Delaware is in the NE. New England = Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. But my part of CT is really kind of New York.... Highly disconcerting to see all those Yankees/Mets magnets on cars.

Kim,
Living in Boston, I feel your pain. You are actually a week ahead in terms of blooming, so I ENVY you!

Although, right now there is this strange round yellowish light in the sky, kind of hurts my eyes to look directly at it? Do you happen to know what it is??!!

ah! A lovely lesson on *the* NE and NE. Did I mention the culture shock? Yes, another mild stressor. But we'll learn and I'm sure we'll love it, if a move becomes reality.

Kim, did your family move b/c of the girls' dx?

NO FAIR ORION. NO FAIR! ;)

Susan, I suggest you find the nearest Baptist church and convert IMMEDIATELY! Clearly the end times are upon us. ;)

Orion? PHTPHTPHTPHTHTHTH!

Irene - if you're a Texan yes, culture shock awaits. But nice folks are everywhere. Even us Yankees!

with signs of awakening, kim, the sun (that strange big yellow thing not from sesame street) yawned a few times today in boston . enough to make me hopeful. something might happen. i have everthing crossed that grayness is behind us. i might become a baptist anyway. any other benefits you know of other than having an 'in' with the big fellow?

My Boston friend, no drinking? No dancing? No swearing? I'm staying Catholic and hoping for the best. :)

Hi Kim,
Are you happier today!
Irene moving here from Ohio is culture shock. They beep their horns ALOT out here. I am trying to learn just to ignore and stop being paranoid that it is me being honked at. When I first got here, each time I heard a beep I would look around and realize the light is still red, it cant be me!
The Pastor at the new church I am visiting says "Mathew, Mac, Luke, and John" ! At first I thought he was kidding the children to see if they caught it. Ok in Ohio I was not a stupid woman. Here I feel like an idiot half the time! I have lived in several places in the midwest and did not find as much cultural difference. But the landscape out here is beautiful and people have a sense of humor.
AS for TX We lived in McKinney and I loved the weather. Hibernate in airconditioning July and August and enjoy the outdoors 10 months of the year. Too far from Ohio and family though.
