We're off to Olde Cape Cod for a week.

Cape Cod is the "arm" off of Massachusetts. Lobster rolls, fried clams and relaxation await! See you after July 4th. Have a safe holiday week, friends.

Check out a live shot from Provincetown here

Have just realised you get 3 more weeks of fun than we do for summer holidays, our schools open again 14th August and we only just closed today. Hope you have as much fun as us!
PS Kim, your girls look about as much combined trouble as mine but at least I only have to look in two directions!

Have fun on vacation, Kim.

I've never been to the Cape but would love to make a trip there someday!

Dear Kim,

I am a comment behind or ahead. Miss G will someday be in MOMA. If her Mama can get through it. Iknow her Mama can. I am hoping this vacation will be kind to Mama, who deserves it greatly.

In September, and in history, your day will come.

And/or let me know if I can help.

As a mother of sons, I can do girls cutting bras. There is a long, long list of what I can't do in my own life. We are ofteh better in other people's lives.

Much love
B

Have just thought of a MASSIVE advantage of being "athletic" - you can run after your kids without knocking yourself out! ;)

Hi Kim,

Hope you're having a great time on your vacation. You can always buy more underwear when you get home.

I need some help from you and the other autism parents who read your blog. If you recall, I have a therapy dog. For the past year we've been working with a small group of autistic kids. Three of the kids will be leaving the school soon (sniff) because they've reached the age of six. I would love to give them each a small gift but I have no idea what's appropriate. There are two girls and one boy. One of the girls is socially aware and intelligent (she uses a talker). The other little girl is very tactile and loves to touch my dog's fur. The boy is harder. He's not as tuned in.

I've considered giving them a photo of my dog but the boy doesn't really connect with either me or the dog. Got any ideas? I'm talking about a memento, not anything huge. Thanks in advance!

Tena

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Socially aware girl - small soft toy version of your dog (washable of course!) tactile girl - a muff/small bag/pencil case made in a fabric of similar feel to your dog ie short or long fur fabric. That way she can carry her feely around and it won't look out of place. Boy - forget the dog connection, what does he actually like? If he's not connecting with you or the dog it might be because he doesn't like you (no offence, you can't like everyone can you?!)
GREAT idea of having a dog in for autistic kids, so many autistic people are frightened of animals (I think due to the unpredictability of their nature)

Amanda is right -- a beanie version of the dog would be great. Tactile and visual.

Amamnda, my sister says easy pease lemon sqeeezy!

Orion, lobster has been consumed....

Thanks so much, Kim and Amanda! I found two beany baby replicas of a German shepherd for the girls. Now for the boy. He'll be harder since I don't know what he likes. Kinda hard to read him.

Amanda, therapy dogs for autistic kids are wonderful, if only to help get the kids over their fear. My dog is very calm and can move slowly so she's not so scary or unpredictable.

Tena you could try taking a photo of the boy with you and your dog to give to him. My girls refer to photos of things they did years ago that Ithoight didn't go in at the time but it appears they certainly did! Think (let's think Yank here) freeway at 1am going in and down town in rush hour coming out.

Hmmm. "Yank..." You are from UK or Australia perchance?

The photo's an interesting idea, Amanda! Thanks.
