First Holy Communion

Sorry these took so long to post. In true Stagliano fashion, Bella dropped my camera on Communion day - and the lense twisted just enough that I couldn't consistently get the damn thing to open. However, we got a few photos, then I had to pull out the card - I couldn't download from the camera. I have new camera - and here are the two girls. Mia is taller, Gianna has the lighter, shorter hair.
Tomorrow, Miss G. turns 12!

Hi, Julie! Sure are! Do you know David Kirby is coming to your area??

I didn't know David was coming to Ohio again, I'll have to check his website! He was fabulous when he spoke for our local group last month. Everyone loved him!

Oh, well then he's not.... It was last month. Call me a month late and a dollar short! :)

I agree with "breathtaking." "Stunning" comes pretty close too. "Babe-ylon" works as well.

You get the idea.

Babelyon? Sounds like a porn flick! LOLOL!!! Yes, my girls are beautiful. Thank you. It is a help and a hindrance. People expect them to be typical - they don't get an instant "pass" because their diagnosis is invisible. On the flip side, their beauty often means people will engage them more frequently than if they were disfigured or otherwise more obviously different. And I don't get the "pity look."

It was a lovely day and I was so proud of them Gianna was terrified. Mia went with the flow. Gianna is my Jack Russell Terrier. Mia is a Siamese cat. Bella? She's like my sweet little teacup poodle. Too cute for words. Yeah, I'm a doting Mom. I admit it!

Oh my gosh, Kim. Are your girls beautiful or what???

Where's a recent pic of your "Bella mia"?? (Need to say that with an Italian accent and in a sing-songy voice of "Momma Mia" fame)

Your pics look like a Merchant Ivory film...STUNNING!

I'm jealous. Your communion dresses
are much nicer than the one we found.

I can tell Gianna has a great sense of humor. Mia looks so sweet and squeezable.

Lovely, lovely. You done good.

Pssst; Drama? Please don't tell anyone, but I got the girls' dresses on ebay! Mark had just lost his job and I was panicked about our finances. I couldn't spend $100 each and then some on dresses, and I didn't want the ugly shiny cha cha dresses I'd seen in department stores in the past. I wanted elegance. Gianna's was new with tags. Mia's worn once. I felt funny about it at first. But when they put them on, all funniness went away. We did not do veils - they would never have allowed them on their heads. And I respected that bit of their autism. No need to overwhelm them. They had pretty Lands End sandals that my Mom bought and that they can wear all summer. No fancy Mary Janes that would have been kicked off and never worn again.

Mark is working and we're in a much better place. But money is always painfully tight with 3 ASD kids, so I try to watch my pennies.

Kim - seriously beautiful! I agree - breathtaking.

I'm assuming Stalingo is in Atlanta? What I wouldn't give to see him run into "the others" this week.

Have a great weekend!

Hi, Amy! Yup, he left Monday, returns Sunday. The good news is no one is yelling at me to keep unpacking.... We're off to GrandE and Grandpy's in Massachusetts this afternoon to celebrate Gianna's birthday there. Stalingo saw a couple of you know what'ers. The nice ones - no bloodshed so Herr Dinkleshlagerachtungschmidt wasn't there, I gather.....

now THAT was funny! I know, I ran into a few at Dallas market. The nice ones. Can't wait to hear all about it! "Herr Dinkleshlagerachtungschmidt" would never show his face around Stalingo.

(Psssttt Petra:

Got any tips on what the h-e-doubletoothpicks Herr Dinkleshlagerachtungschmidt means?

I'm guessing it has nothing to do with beer or braukworst but can't tell for sure -- any tips?)

Wish you had time to visit us in MA. Have a great birthday celebration. The girls and their dresses are gorgeous, and I think getting them on ebay is a brilliant strategy. Once again, your yankee ingenuity is exemplary. How is the new house?

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Looks like you had a great day and face ache the day after from smiling.

Oh, they are soooo lovely. I always cry during my kids' First Holy Communion. Wouldn't blame you a bit if you did, too.
