Do you ever just go to her silent blog and look at the screen? I do. Sigh......... I'm feeling very nitwitty. And that's the size shoe the next incarnation of Miss Snark will need to fill.
You know, I just sat down and wrote my book, and you can too. I often think all these sites are as much a distraction as a help.
I mean, for book two, I've met a lot of people who've shown me many new things. For example, I've seen from you have many much-more-impaired-than-me kids are out there.
Without an Internet, my universe of Aspergians would be very small indeed.
But . . . did that help with the skills to write book #1? Not really. It helped a lot with background info, in the same way that having a research assistant may have helped in years past.
But even now, all the Internet sites in the world don't change my basic ability to form words. They just influence content and direction.
So you should believe in yourself more. I think you're gonna be fine.
I agree with John, but like you and Anissa, I too pop in once in a while. That picture of Killer Yap gets to me. I hope that after a year off Miss Snark grows restless in retirement and makes a triumphant return.
I feel like I've really mised out. Who was Miss Snark? What did she have to say? Should I care? (I was up from 3am so probably won't today but you know what I mean!)
Tena, what's happening at Rejecter?? I know about the JEH controversy - I added some comments there too. But Spam site? That's usually just when SO much activity takes place that Google puts a hold on your blog to investigate. It happened to me once and to John Robison too, if I recall correctly.
Amanda, Miss Snark was an anonymous literary agent whose blog was full of the best advice and info for a writers and adopted a tone of "you enter at your own risk" with Miss Snark's honest appraisal of your writing and questions. misssnark.blogspot.com She would grind you into the ground with her red stiletto heel, thus my photo. She retired last Spring. No one knows who she was although there were rumors of this or that agent. That was half the fun, the anonymity of it all. Who wants to know that Batman is Bruce Wayne? Not I!
Ahh, a writers thing, I did google her and guessed as much so won't loose any sleep over that then, I'm more worried about my veg (being market gardener - first year!) Have had some AMAZING strawberries and tatties (potatoes!) and shallots so far. The only flaw in the plan is we've eaten it all, so won't be making our millions! It's all organic so kids will be healthy. Will console myself with that and scrutinising the farmers market for that gap in the supply - no ones doing smoothies so guess where our raspberries are going next year?!
BTW, I'm with John, have the courage of your convictions and stick with what you know, which is quite a bit, after all, you're an autism mum and therefore indestructable and never wrong!
Yes, yes, yes! Hers was the first site I looked at every morning with my coffee, and the one that wore out my refresh button. It wasn't so much about needing advice after a while. She was just fun to hang out with. :) Like having coffee with one of your best friends in the morning.

Just today, in fact.

Thanks, guys. Sniff....
Miss Snark. Sniff, indeed. Just as I was beginning to get over it...
And now the Rejector's site is under investigation as a spam site. Boy, did that discussion ever get snarky.

*sniff*
I heart Miss Snark.
Kim, it was about the Jill controversy. I, too, left some comments there. So did about 80 other people. She said:
The Rejecter said...
Huh. My blog has been blocked as a "spam blog" and I can't make new posts until they review my case. Nice.
9:42 PM
(I think she posted this either yesterday or Saturday.) Harumph.
Hee. I go there all the time, hoping she'll just have miraculously started up again. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I do. But I feel pathetic admitting it. Her absence has created a great void in the comicsphere.
very cool. I miss her too. Damn that girl! Can we still email her? hee hee, maybe a petition is in order!
