Of all people, Montel really hit it with his show on Autism a while back. If Oprah actually delves into causes and treatments, instead of just, "Wow, having a child with Autism is challenging! And it's so common now!" it could be a great show! Let's hope!
I assume that its NOW she feels she can get some sort of personal/professional benefit, after countless thousands of parents have spent years slogging in the trenches. Parents have been after her for many years to run a show - you're right. She gives away cars - how about a year of treatment at Pfeiffer in her back yard?
I have no respect for her whatsoever. She has ignored the requests of many parents regarding autism for years now....I wouldn't even watch a show if she did one at this point. She's too busy saving children in other countries....who can respect someone like that?
And now I am told that Oprah is choosing, after all of these years, to have Suzanne Wright on her show. She gets to be the voice for all of us? All she manages to do is to convey how her daughter will never have to worry about paying for services for her son for the rest of his life. That was the message that came across loud and clear on Larry King when she was on his show. Some of us weren't born with a silver spoon in our mouth as Katie Wright was and I would rather see REAL parents with REAL hardships portrayed regarding obtaining services, paying for those services and fighting districts. Of course Suzanne is much better for ratings I am sure.
Probably because Larry King got good ratings showing his autism program 3 times. Oprah is a businesswoman. She is not a mother. She has no idea what it's like to love a child, watch a child suffer or lose a child to autism. I don't mean that women without children can not empathize with mothers - but Oprah has always gone for where she can get the biggest publicity bang. Like the school in S. AFrica because she thought American kids were too ungrateful. Why wasn't she called a racist pig for that? Katie Wright will be on too - let's see if they muzzle, I mean edit her or not.
I agree....muzzling Suzanne and Katie would be a great option. Again, how can these two women possibly understand what it means to struggle for services, pay legal bills, worry about the future financially, etc.? Suzanne has acknowledged that Katie's son got right into the McCarton School in NYC. I have known parents who have been on that wait list for a very long time, yet Katie's son gets right in. Give me a break. Trust me, we want to see the true side of autism on Oprah and all it will be is yet another "Katie and Suzanne Show." I for one won't be watching.

Do you have spies or something? How do you know these thing? [not that I doubt your veracity! Perish the thought!]
Cheers
No spies - I am on a lot of publishing sites though. It's really rumor - we'll find out tomorrow!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for your, Kim. Both or either of these would be wonderful developments!
Best wishes from Canada :)
Wow! I'm pretty excited!
Oprah is safe now that the hottest topic ever has been on so many other shows now.

WOW!!!!!!!!
Will Oprah delve into the causes?
She should have stepped up and done a show on autism five years ago, that would have been more impressive.
