It's Friday! Dance! (The intro is slow, then you might wish you had my funkalicious bathing suit to wear as you dance.) Listen to the lyrics. This song is fron 1979. Some things have changed. Some haven't.

I added another below. Another dance song - but the lyrics are powerful. The love that you need will never be found at home. Sadly, the situation for many young gay people.

Bronski Beat. If only I had a pair of Guess Jeans from 1983 to blog.....

Oh man!! Talking about going back in time. And yes, the lyrics are still *spot on*.

"Run away, Turn away, Run away, Turn away, Run awayay.."

(going straight back to my Bronsky Beat, Depeche Mode, Frankie Goes to Hollywood days..)

i was having lunch one day with my dear friend (and pastor) and we got to chatting with our waiter, a delightful young gay man. we talked a bit about her church (ucc) and my friend told him that she would love to welcome him if he ever felt like coming to services. she explained to him that the church is open and affirming, as proven by the fact that she, an associate pastor of a rather large congregation is married to a woman (bringing us back to _ go massachusetts!)
he literally wept as he stood before our table and said, 'it's always been very clear that i'm not welcome in church. my family's church, that is.'
it was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
why? why should anyone be unwelcome to worship?
how can a family shun a child?
i just don't get it.

Wow, that brought back memories...8th grade in Belgium - I was an IBM kid and now I'm a navy wife, so yes, I've moved every 2-3 years since I was born! And now we add autism to the mix...just can't wait to start all over again in FL next summer...NOT! But I digress. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. :)
