I took Bella to Joan Rivers' signing for her two new books. (I'll blog a contest on Monday, I have a SIGNED copy to giveaway!)

Bella was struggling - too many people (a successful signing!) and she was getting, er, antsy. Think angry spitting and grabby hands. Uh Oh! My pulse was racing. I really wanted to meet Joan Rivers and get the books I'd bought signed. But Bella comes first.

When I explained the situation to the lovely woman behind the counter she offered to get the book signed for me and mail them. Then she said, "Wait a minute."

The escorted me to Joan Rivers, whom I met - and off we went, in a mere 10 minutes!

So....call to order a book, we all love to read.

They really made an autism Mom's day easy. And I am VERY grateful!!

Oh I'm so glad it ended up well. I could just see you in the queue with Bella around your ankles......er no of course that would be mine around the ankles. Happy endings come in the most unlikely of circumstances.
BEst wishes

The good news: More people are aware of what having a child with autism is like and how hard it can be to deal with public/crowded places - this mostly due to more people being personally affected.

The bad news: More people are aware of what having a child with autism is like and how hard it can be to deal with public/crowded places - this mostly due to more people being personally affected.

Glad to hear that you had one of the good ones on your side today; helps renew faith in mankind.....

It just makes my heart sing to hear of people having a bit of understanding and helping out. For the assistant it was probably a small thing she won't even remember in a couple of weeks (well maybe she might depending on the Bella moment!) but for you (and me!) it was HUGE. A slice of life achieved in spite of a very autistic moment. Good for you!

I'm going to post about a similarly heart singing moment on my blog - think arriving in pool side changing with no costume!

That's great, Kim! Glad everything turned out well! Sorry about the new spitting thing. I think Hutton's was blowing raspberries for a while, but has stopped. I've blocked it out. That's one of the nice things about having brain fog and a really crappy memory - I forget the bad stuff (unfortunately, I forget the good stuff, too!)
