We interrupt Kim's regularly scheduled life for 2 hours of relaxation. I am making beef soup. I am listening to my favorite show on Sirius. My house is quiet. My blogs are up to date. My laundry is mostly done. My toilets are clean. I like my Christmas tree and I am NOT taking it down today.

I will return to motherhood and responsibility at 2:30pm Eastern when Mia gets off the bus.

Now where's my spoon?

Hey -
You go, girl! I appreciate your appreciation of those great quiet moments.

Your laundry is done? Oh the sense of inner peace and happiness that only an empty laundry bin can bring! It's still Orthodox Christmas right now so leave the tree...

I appreciate Wes's appreciation of your appreciation.

Now...would you come scrub my toilets and make me soup?

What kind of beef soup? Potatoes or pasta? Veggies or no?

I just did a killer white bean and sweet sausage...

VEggies and beef. Quite lazy actually. I bought pre-cut onions and celery. And julienned carrots. And 32 oz. box of Kitchen Basics all natural Beef stock and Veggie stock. 2 cans of organic diced tomatoes and stew beef. I put olive oil in a stock pot, dredged the beef in salt and GF flour and browned the meat. Then took out the meat and cooked the onions and celery. Scraped the yummies off the bottom. Added the stock, the carrots, the tomatoes with juice and the meat. Cooked for a couple of hours. Now I could add rice to keep it GF or noodles if it is not for the kids. It was yummy, healthy and low fat.

Could you ship some to Seattle? It's yucky here and homemade soup would really hit the spot.

Yummalicious. For me. My girls are not soupaholics as I am. They have decreased fine motor skills and frankly, eating soup off a spoon is not easy for them. No cute Campbell's commercial are we - more of a slurpy, dripping down the chinny, my bowl is empty but I'm still starving kind of thing. I know that. Yet every so often I attempt soup for them, hoping to impart my love of all things soupish. Alas, the sopping, carrot strewn tablecloth told me we're not quite there yet.

Yikes, girl, you are ambitious! I'll be over for dinner tomorrow - wait, that WAS an invitation, right?

My Christmas tree is still up, too, partly because I LIKE it! and partly because I can't drag myself off my dead ass to do anything that isn't required. Make soup? Hahahahahah!

The nice red balls on my tree might be cute on Valentine's day, right?

Hi Kim!
It was beef stew night at our house too(not for the kids, they won't touch the stuff). The similarities end there, however...I still have several loads of laundry to do, and my toilets could probably use a good scrubbing(I live with 3 males with questionable aim). The tree is down(and the boys are missing it), but all the ornaments are on the dining room table until I find the motivation to wrap them and pack them all away. Don't you just hate UNdecorating?
Hope you had a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

My mom would always put some whole peppercorns in her beef stew, and it was like lottery to see who got them. I'm not afraid of a whole peppercorn, but they were a little much for my dad and ironically he used to get most of them. Thanks, I hadn't thought of that in a while.

I've always wondered - do your kids crave non GFCF things? If they ingest any G or C, how long does it take to shake out of their system?
