Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Exercise your precious right to vote!

Think about how many men and women have died for the right for you and me to wake up tomorrow, take a shower in clean water, choose food from our own cupboard, get into a car with a tank full of gas, drive to a polling center, saunter in without fear, show an ID, smile at an elderly lady who rifles through the voter rolls with the expertise of a marksman, finds our street address and name faster than a Google search can find Lindsay Lohan, walk into the booth, close the curtain and choose the direction for this country that soothes our heart, calms our stomach and maybe energizes our soul? Then walk back to our car, unmolested by anyone who would demand to know our vote, and off to HERE where you can get a free cup of coffee.

VOTE! McCain/Palin, Obama/Biden, Ron Paul or any other candidate you desire. We're making history! We'll have a woman as VP for the first time or a man who is not just African America, but the very melting pot that makes our nation the envy of the world.

I'm very proud to be an American. I'm voting. Are you?

I voted two weeks ago by absentee ballot. It was the first time I'd ever felt excited filling out a ballot.

Anyone who reads the above statement now knows exactly who I voted for, without knowing anything else about me. That says something about the candidates, doesn't it?

Already did too!
here in Hawaii if you wait until election day you are told who won before you vote...so I vote early...

I voted last week. I love voting. I feel bad for you guys who can't vote early - can't imagine the lines tomorrow. I still think it's up in the air...can hardly wait to see who wins. Either way, tomorrow is historic and we should be proud to participate and proud to be American!

PS and unrelated - Bergen screamed bloody murder when I tried to dress him as Yoda last week, so he joined Mia as a "rat's ass" for Halloween. Guess I'll sell that costume on ebay. He didn't trick or treat, but did have fun riding his bike in the street all night while we passed out candy. Hope your Halloweenie was fun!

Yes, We are voting tomorrow, possible My hubby and I together w/my son Harry! The neighborhood elementary where we vote is having a big fundraiser selling baked goods. Schools are off for the date here. I am voting democrat except for Congressman Shays because of his assistance with my younger son helping us access support/services where we live when insurance was cutting services. He has been instrumental in parity act in US and CT legislation. Hubby is voting Republican. Harry wants me to vote for McCain, his hero. I told him to stand w/Daddy if we go together! I brought home a book about McCain and one about Obama. Of course my 10 year old is very impressed that McCain was a veteran and he says he wants power plants too!!!! I want him to know how lucky we are to be able to vote and that it is an awesome responsibility. Everyone should be encouraged to participate. Bummer we picked up a McCain sign for him at the local business trick or treat event and it was stolen so was my neighbors. Now That is UNpatriotic and downright immoral. Freedom of speech is what it means to be free, americans. Oh, Well the Shays sign is still up in the yard!

I don't know about early voting - I like the mad rush to the polls - it grabs me in a way that voting by mail (or voting early) does not. Anyway it doesn't really matter now - vote today or don't vote.

I'm a political junkie (there's a special section for me on airplanes now) and I've been eating up the latest polls, projections, news, etc. on the campaigns. It's been quite a ride, hasn't it? As to who I hope will win, I'l leave that to your imagination, but I will say this - if McCain wins, it will rank up there with "Dewey Defeats Truman" in the land of political upsets, and if Obama wins in a landslide, it could mean a major recentering (or even a sundering) of the Republican party.

Can't wait!!!!

I have never been so excited about voting as I was at 7:15 this morning. My polling place was 50 people deep, and I didn't care. I truly got teary while marking my ballot for Obama. My 4 year old daughter's preschool taught the kids about voting (okay, they voted on the snack) but she came home knowing both candidates names and "who is an elephant and who is a donkey."
Today is amazing - what a historical day!

I voted this afternoon -- the last time we in WA state will be voting at the polls. It all goes mail-in for the next election. It felt very historic, and now that I know the results, even more so!
