Palin: Charmin' as in the toilet paper....

I have no love lost for Sarah Palin. None. Nada. Zip. That said, I don't think the national media or the McCain Campaign should destroy her now that they have tanked. McCain has no one to blame but himself and that tall glass of Kool Aid he drank before choosing her.

I do think she was pulled up from obscurity onto the McCain ticket because she did not abort her special needs son to appease the furthest right hand reaches of the Republican party. Palin was "pretty pretty proof" that McCain was pro-life. I think McCain used her horribly..... And that's not right.

That's said, Jiminy Cricket, look at Fox News (Fox News!) rip her apart. She didn't know what countries make up NAFTA. (Hint, it's N. America. There are only 3 countries.) She didn't know Africa is a continent and not a country. And Fox says, "It was put off the record until after the election." WHAT??? Didn't voters deserve to know how ignorant she was BEFORE voting?

Let's face it - the woman attended 5 colleges in order to get a degree. She never claimed to be Mensa material. Was she even vetted?? Not all of us can hop into a good college and remain there. At least she got a degree.

The party of family values and education chose a woman with at least one child who does not have a high school diploma, and who is marrying (I'm waiting for the announcement in Guns and Ammo's nuptuals page) a boy who also does not have a high school diploma. (Does the son in Iraq have his diploma?) And yes, kids get pregnant. I realize that and I don't have any issue with the underaged pregnant daughter. But really, isn't the hypocrisy stifling?

She is who she is. And Alaska chose her as their Governor. Fine. But McCAIN chose her to be next in line for the Presidency. What does that say about him? Nothing good, I fear. He put pandering to a slim voter bloc over the country's best interest. It's hard to deny that.

McCain also used her to seduce the disability community, including the autism community saying she knew more about autism than anyone he knew. That's bullshit. McCain is actually very up to date on autism and was a strong advocate for our kids. He was the better candidate for the pure autism subject, no doubt. But Palin? Let me tell you this, six months into Mia's diagnosis, I was no expert. And her sister has a 13 year old with autism. Fine. Go call any of my girls' aunts and uncles and ask them how much they know about autism. Go ahead. You can Google Palin's sister's name with the word "autism." Nothing comes up prior to Palin's nomination. She was dragged into the spotlight as the poster Mom for autism. Google my name and autism. I can think of fifty names of Moms in the autism community, on all sides of the debate, who will come up in Google searches as having had a meaningful impact on the community. Even the ones I disagree with on everything. Again, it was a shell game. And that poor woman's sister was used.

Then there's this whole shopping debacle. Sure, she might live a simple lifestyle on her own turf. But what did she do when she got her hands on taxpayers/donors scratch? She raided Neiman Marcus. My God.....

Here's the Fox Clip.

That clip is nasty and disturbing. On so many levels.

Wait...I thought this was over. Why is everyone still talking about this?? Trust me - she won't be the candidate it 2012. Not sure who will be, but the R's have 4 years to regroup and figure out who they want to be. If things go wrong in the next 4 years (and please note, I'm not saying they will, I just said "if"), there will be little to no republican party to blame. That gives them a chance to step back and, like I said, regroup. I'm not a political junkie, so I have no idea who can stand up in 2012.

And he should of picked Kay Bailey Hutchison, IMO, if he wanted a woman to run. But her TX address might have scared him (and the voters) away.

And I know who is in NAFTA. :)

I think Kay Bailey Hutchinson would have been an excellent choice. They used Palin and tossed her away. Maybe that's just politics in general, but boy this is just so in your face! It takes a lot to get me to feel sorry for her. And I kind of do! But I'm just a bleeding heart liberal, we cry alot. ;)

ONWARD!

LOLOL!!! Ver" "Right"

My thoughts exactly. The Fox guy already knew about her supreme ignorance BEFORE the election but he didn't spew the story until after the fact. So that means that if McCain/Palin had won the election, we'd never know about stuff like that. Anyone involved with picking Sarah Palin and maintaining the charade should be prosecuted! Talk about "Country First".

I feel very sorry for her, but you have to remember, she could have said "no". I mean, if someone came and asked me to be president of some big fortune 500 sales organization, I would say no, knowing I'm not qualified. I know how to sell, but let's be honest...I'm not president material. She knows how to govern a small town and a state, but...she's just nowhere near ready to run the country.

I don't think we'll hear much more from her other than on FoxNews as an anchor or special talk show host. She's really pretty and likeable (at least I think she is). I doubt she'll run for anything else.

I will miss Tina Fey's impersonations.

Oh I think it would be hard for an ambitious politician to say no. Once in a lifetime opportunity and all that. It was like getting to cut in line by 15 years over any other politician. From Governor of a tiny (pop wise) state with no presence outside of Alaska to a national ticket?

The thing is, she wasn't smart enough to be able to fake it well. A brighter woman would have gotten the basics down, at least, like "What do you read?" Jesus, The Anchorage Daily News as a starter?

Remember Will Smith in 6 degrees of separation? The character was a nobody from nowhere and yet was smart enough to convince wealthy NY'ers he was Sidney Poitier's son (I think.) Palin is lacking that wiley intelligence.

I read about a study, many years ago, that said people with low intelligence simply had no concept of the fact that they had low intelligence. A safety mechanism or a bitter irony?

Is that like the gal who can't sing but volunteers for the church solo every chance she gets? If you didn't go to church camp, you might not get the reference.

Kim, I never thought I'd defend Gov. Palin, but you're absolutely right. McCain selected Palin, and he has to live with that decision. You can't have it both ways -- to first say she's SO qualified and SO experienced and ready to lead, and she was thoroughly vetted, and then say she is to blame for McCain's defeat. She was a terrible pick, and a big reason why so many high-profile conservatives (George Will and Colin Powell, to name two) could not endorse him, as well as many conservative newspapers, like Cheney's hometown paper in Wyoming.

Yanno, there's an old tale about the man who puts the snake in his pocket - the snake begs for a lift into town and promises he will not bite the man (I think it's a man, it's an Aesop's fable, could be a skunk...) and when the snake does bite the man he hisses, "What did you expect. I'm a snake." And I don't mean to imply Gov. Palin is a snake - but she hasn't changed a fig - nor should she have. McCain fucked up royally on a major decision. He's a gambler. He rolled the dice using the country as chips. Oh. Mixing metaphors there. You know what I mean. I think I might turn this post into a HuffPo. Because McCain really strung along the autism community too and many too his bait like hungry little fish.
