(Of course, God still wins. I realize that!)Meet a lovely little girl named Riley. Riley has a couple of things. One is Asperger's Syndrome. Riley has surmounted tremendous obstacles like a real champ. She's a hardworking, kind hearted child. Two, she has a doll of a brother named Seth. Three, she has parents who are two of the most down to earth, insightful, caring and motivated (you can care all you want, if you don't do jack squat it doesn't much matter, does it?) people I know.
Last year when Mark was out of work (Oh! Deja vu!) Michelle organized a fundraiser to help my kids. She fought with me to make me accept the help. Yes she did. And many of you came to our aid. I'll never forget it. Never ever. Family often has nothing to do with genetics, does it? SO - Michelle is trying to get a helper dog for Riley. A service dog! And she's raising fund to do so. If you can donate a few dollars, I'd consider it a favor to me. And around and around we go - love. That's what Michelle tells me when I feel panicked about our life. One simple word: LOVE. Easy to spell. Hard to do. Even when it's easy. It's hard to do.
Any family wanting a service dog for their child with autism is a family that is close to my heart (we got a Golden for that same purpose). I will pray that Riley gets that dog from 4 Paws asap, and I will pray that the dog will make all the difference! Thanks for that great piece on your friends, Kim.

Hi, Jason! You're mom is right. We help ourselves. But it's important to help others too. Then, when WE need help (and that happens to all of us) it's a bit easier to accept knowing we've helped someone else or will in the future.

......ditto for my son as well. I am currently researching fundraising options to purchase a service dog for my 15 year old who has Aspergers.
I hope to have a plan and goal set by January 1st! This is such a blessing for our kiddos. Best to you and yours.
