Congratulations to Patricia Wood , author of LOTTERY and nominee for the 2008 Orange Prize Short List!

This is quite huge, my American friends. Have you read Lottery? It's about a young man named Perry Crandall who is NOT retarded (his IQ is 76) and what happens to him when he wins the lottery.

Here's Patricia looking like Miss Orange America holding the bouquet sent to her by her UK publisher!

She does look like a pagent winner. That's what I was getting at when I commented on her blog. All sunny and happy (unsuprisingly)!

Congrats to Pat!
They really should've sent her a necklace made of orange peelings as well, don't you think? Just for fun? Ahhh, oranges! They'll never smell the same way again, Pat :)

Congrats Pat! I was thinking of you the other night, watching a documentary on Zora Neale Hurston (my favorite author)who also spent some time living on a boat.

And I was thinking about you because we're reading a children's book called Blue Bottle Mystery about a boy with Asperger's who wins the lottery!

I loved Lottery. The characters have stayed with me, and that is a huge compliment since I generally can't remember my own kid's names.

So happy for your success!

And can't wait to read your book K-Stag!

Keep looking for news of the orange awards and Pat's name in lights but nothing so far.

Well done Miss G! Being a cruel and heartless mother I make my daughters dress themselves as far as they can and then I straighten them up. I know they would let me dress them like dolls if they thought they could get away with it.
