I met an autism Mom today dropping off my girls at a vacation camp. She had triplets in tow - darling boys. I asked. "Do all three have autism?" Her answer: "Oh no! If I had three with autism I'd blow my brains out!" To which I responded, "I have three with autism and I still have a brain." Then I turned on my heel and walked away.

Can you imagine? What a disgusting way to talk about your own child, my kids, your kids. "I'd blow my brains out." I'm guessing that autism takes away from her tennis court time.

I mean, I'm not bucking to take Fifi Bresci's crown or anything but..... (That blurry photos says, "Italian Mother of the Year Fifi Brescia" and is from dear Cleveland, Ohio's 2006 Columbus Day Parade, in Little Italy I gather. Around the corner from where Mia and Bella were born.

I am sorry you had to hear her say that. How can she dare say anything like that about children? What a rude woman!

Well, to quote your last post...
"AUTISM IS TREATABLE. SOME KIDS RECOVER. AUTISM CAN TURN A GOOD PARENT INTO A MONSTER." Perhaps she was already pretty close before the autism entered the picture?

Maybe she knows that Adam Jasinski character, too?

Oh come on Kim, not everyone has the stomach for it. And she doesn't know what she's missing out on! Bear just dragged me right through the house with urgency to sit me on her bed and give me the hugest most gorgeous hug in the world, and to top it all it was to the sing-song sound track of "Mummy...Mummy..Mummy!" Then Scrumpy found us and fought for a hug

Beat that brainless triplet mum!

Yanno, people sometimes ask me, "how do you come up with characters for your book?" Heh, heh, heh......

I find it in pretty poor taste to talk about blowing one's brains out in any circumstance! Sorry you had to deal with that in your day.

That is a very sad comment to make about someone's kids.

Its bad the lady felt like that, especially because autism can be helped with diet and such.

I dunno. She was probably just feeling that three small boys, one with autism, was more than she could deal with that day. I kind of get overwhelmed at the thought of raising three kids, even if they were all totally healthy and low-maintenance. Some of us don't feel up to much (raises hand wanly).

I vote for put-her-foot-in-her-mouth rather than evil, and I'm sorry you had to hear it, too, Kim.
