But yes, we in the Nawth were all fairly appalled at the kiddie beauty pageant thing. We're just not as into it here as women are in the South. Our SAT prep courses are packed with plain faced girls though. Some of us still have the practical mini-van.
What that mother did was horrible. But, what is also horrible is that we allow people to buy the tickets at regular price and then scalp them for $26,000. That is atrocious.
This, on a budget, mother of 6 would love to take my 2 Hannah fans to the show in Austin...they sold out in 50 minutes....crazy.
Now, when it comes to hair here in Texas, I believe our only rival is Jersey.
Happy New Year,
JeanetteMom26childrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13218226918121229676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35048242.post-78081732554685854602007-12-31T07:52:00.000-05:002007-12-31T07:52:00.000-05:00Amanda, that pretty child is JonBenet Ramsay, who ...Amanda, that pretty child is JonBenet Ramsay, who was found mysteriously murdered in her parents home many years ago on December 26. She was a child beauty queen. Her Mom who was under suspicion was a former Miss Georgia I think. It was a sad story and a brutal murder. Without her makeup JonBenet was just a pretty six year old.Kim Rossi Staglianohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17687828526726281119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35048242.post-77042776144926872702007-12-31T05:40:00.000-05:002007-12-31T05:40:00.000-05:00PS Come on, say it with me, ONLY IN AMERICAPS Come on, say it with me, ONLY IN AMERICAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35048242.post-26496566465262683932007-12-31T05:39:00.000-05:002007-12-31T05:39:00.000-05:00THAT is a kid?? Even the Hannah Montana shows are so boy crazy and far more mature than "Facts of Life" was when I was a kid. And don't get me started on the clothing! The only advantage we have here is cold weather for half the year. When the principal has to send home several memos, "Please no belly shirts" at the school for kids grades 1-5 you know you're in "Teeny Tartville" regardless of your State. And it's the MOMS who buy the clothes, caving to Tiffy's demands to look just like Tawyna who wants to look like Madison who must look like Taylor and so it goes. Oh how I long for plain Jane! I'd appreciate it if you would use wfaa.com in your future Texas bashing. We could use the page views. :)

#2 - I think the kid wrote the story, not the mom. But a good mom would at least proof the story first. It's just bad parenting...no matter the geography. Little girls are under tremedous pressure everywhere. I just see what goes on around here. It's insane the pressure to fit in, be cool. Like nothing I've ever seen.

So glad I have boys!!!

Signed, Dallasgirl...still proud...Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06677790028070317914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35048242.post-73010299454318917712007-12-30T14:18:00.000-05:002007-12-30T14:18:00.000-05:00Travis! Yeah, I'd say Mom is the dodo here. The kid must be mortified. On a personal note I once won ticket to see Hannah Montana's dad Billy Ray in concert, but I didn't cheat to win. Least she didn't cheat and corrupt her kid and still lose.

Yeah, yeah they stripped her of her prize but that kid learned something there as well.
